Re: Eedee presents: ASHES
Excellent (91%)
With the approaching behemoth that would be phoenix, the boys needed something to tie everyone over, and here it was.
With Mat Demaz mixing most of this tape, we had high hopes after listening to some mixing attempts Mat made for Lights Out that were received positively.
We had no idea that Ashes would be this good.
Not only did it destroy pretty much almost all of Eedee's previous work,
but it also transcended the realm of bad quality and arrived the boys to
a plateau of greatness.
The tape is a highly enjoyable experience, from the spine-chilling hooks, to the aggressive lyricism.
What what the guys had to work with, they really hit a home run here.
Give Me The Rush, the pop rock ballad shows us that radio-friendly quality these guys can produce.
Eedee, Mike Murdoch and Precision all go in hard.
Broken Free tells a tale about how Eedee's parents are disappointed with his plans to flunk college.
Mike's chilling hook really hits home.
The epic hooks sung by Mike Murdoch give this album the icing it needs to become a complete cake.
Songs such as Shadows and It's True give this album that dark and demonic vibe.
It's true being a highly disturbing insight about how a relationship can go terribly wrong.
Both Precision and Eedee deliver their lines nicely.
We even get a freestyle by the name of Rise Above which is reminiscence to old school hip-hop.
These streets and No One Laughs are both eerie and confusing. which puts the listener into a state of delusion.
These streets is probably the most confusing, as it has a happy beat to rather aggressive lyrics.
How can I forget the starting tracks, Close My Eyes and Lights; they are both enjoyable to listen to.
Mixtapes come and go, but this is one I don't think the boys will ever forget.
It was the first recording they made to have decent quality, and it wasn't the last.

Easily Eedee's best effort to date.

Re: Eedee presents: ASHES
I could've done better. I mean, it's cool if you guys like it, but for me being the artist, I hate it.
Re: Eedee presents: ASHES
Shut up. I was atrocious on it.
On Rise Above I fucked everything up. I could've added an internal rhyme and I didn't... I'm retarded.

Re: Eedee presents: ASHES
No. I'm not.
I could've made it "standing behind trees" so it'll rhyme with "rhyme schemes" but then the huge inverse would've been fucked.
"Standing behind a tree" "Laughing maniacally"... LOL ok maybe I went in on that song.
