I know my speech can make me sound like an old guy, but
Nostalgia's killing me - at times I don't mind it
Yet I'm trying to fight it. But the feeling of sand
Under my feet on the beach, I just can't deal with it, man!
There are memories etched, but a change in the weather,
I better protect it! But the waves will erase it forever.
A life cycle - I'm quite right, too. Right by you
Time flies, you better change your lifestyle, or die like you
Never lived at all - and everything you are
Is drowned out by the silence, I'm just waitin' for that pin to fall.
I take this pen to heart - my heart begins to start,
Sometimes I close my eyes to pretend it's dark.
I soar the stars... whizz by planets,
Man, I'm livin' the life! I wake up, I wished I hadn't...

Because of Dr. Sagan, I dipped my feet in the Cosmic Ocean Shore,
I thought he told us more, he's now a fallen Trojan Horse.
The money spent buying it was worth the annoyance,
I had the Cosmos in my lap! My own Personal Voyage
Was being undertaken, and thunder/rain could not
awaken me from the wonder, patience reading, probably a 100 pages.
I wanna venture to the stars, rest in peace to Carl Sagan
Let's all be patient, we all will make it, the call awaits us.

I dream of when I'm next to you, starin' at the crescent Moon,
And when I move, you vanish, I settle to pay the devil's dues.
But I leave several clues, a path up to a better dude,
A clever fool, paying the consequences when I question you.
Let me paint you a picture grander than a pallet can,
I'm walking slowly on a beach, surrounded by a land of sand.
I feel lifted by real waves, I'm digging my heels
Into the wet sand, you can bet that I tried figuring deals
But tell me, what's the deal? I felt somewhat surreal
Like a surge of energy that didn't come from a meal.
At the same time calm came over me, yes
The farther away from nature I go, the colder I get.
Am I a martyr for fame? We'll have to see, won't we?
My life is up to me, we have to breathe, don't we?
I let all my problems fall, the waves lap at me
I look up at see the Moon, a smile breaks my face happily.
I breathe the smell of the ocean, this is real life
I look at the prints behind me, that's when I realized...

I realized that...
I find it... poetic, that the same Moon I look up and revel at,
Is the same Moon that erases the footsteps I make in the sand.
That's why I shoot for the Moon.
Because that way? When I make my path,
My mark will last forever.
