Early Blink-182 Albums
Were pretty metal don't you guys think?
I know it's sorta skate punikish, but Cheshire Cat obviously has thrash metal elements.
What do you think?

You would be right.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skate_punk
Skate punk is related to crossover thrash, hardcore punk and punk rock.
Scott Raynor was a metal drummer really.
This song in particular raises an eyebrow or two about the genre of music they were aiming for during their early years.

Re: Early Blink-182 Albums
Yeah, I always wondered what the deal was with Blink, they switched their style soo much.
I mean, on some mainstream records, they still had some fast tracks, but the vocals were just really poppy.

Well, their vocals were always pretty clean since the band formed, haha.FallenAngel wrote:Yeah, I always wondered what the deal was with Blink, they switched their style soo much.

Re: Early Blink-182 Albums
Well, I'd consider them a mixture of metal and pop on the first few albums, not just metal.

I actually like the newer albums.
Enema Of The State and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket are pretty decent quality-wise.

Re: Early Blink-182 Albums
Of course they started out like everyone else, but they helped pioneer pop punk and helped make it mainstream like Green Day did.

Re: Early Blink-182 Albums
I think they started out as a typical punk band, but they had their own style as well.
So they mixed the cliche aggressive tempos with clean vocals.

I just recently heard the new album again, it's awful.
Well, it's not completely bad, it has one or two good tracks.

My favorite early track would have to be Josie.
